Heparin is analyzed as a complex with antithrombin present in the sample. The concentration of heparin is dependent on the availability of the patient's endogenous antithrombin. Falsely decreased heparin levels may be obtained in a patient with decreased antithrombin concentration. Anti-Xa Heparin (UFH) Level is useful for the monitoring of patients on unfractionaed heparin therapy.
