Storage/Transport Temperature
Specimen in sterile container should be refrigerated if plating within 2 hours is not possible.
Specimens in BD Vacutainer C&S Preservative Urine Tubes can be held refrigerated or at room temperature for up to 48 hours for culture. Urine preservative tubes MUST be filled to the mark on the side of the tube.

Specimens older than 24 hours
Specimens submitted in non-sterile container
Urine collected in BD transport tube with insufficient sample
24 hour urine collection specimens are not acceptable
