Smear results are reported as soon as possible, noting number of epithelial cells, white blood cells, and quantity and morphotypes of organisms seen. The specimen is rejcted if: >10 EPI/LPF and <5 PMN per 1 EPI/Oil field and no predominating organism. Rejected specimens are called to the licensed care giver.
Definitive organism identification and/or sensitivity may be performed at additional charge, if deemed significant.
