Blood in a QuantiFERON-TB (Standard) 4 In-Tube Collection Kit

1.0   mL, QuantiFERON-Nil Control Tube    Grey cap with white ring
1.0 mL, QuantiFERON-TB1 Antigen Tube    Green cap with white ring
1.0 mL, QuantiFERON-TB2Antigen Tube    Yellow cap with white ring
1.0 mL, QuantiFERON-Mitogen Control Tube    Purple cap with white ring

•    Fill each tube with 1.0 mL of whole blood within the black marked line on each tube.
•    Do not underfill or over fill the tubes.
•    Immediately after filling the tubes, shake them ten (10) times with up and down motion enough to ensure the entire inner surface of the tube is coated with blood, to solubilize antigens on the tube walls.
•    Over-energetic shaking may cause gel disruption and could lead to aberrant results

Specimen Required

4.0 mL of blood (in the QuantiFERON Gold In-tube collection kit)

Specimen Min Vol

1.0 mL per tube into each of the 4 QuantiFERON Gold collection kit tubes

Specimen Preparation

•    Tubes should be between 17°C and 25°C (63°F to 77°F) at the time of blood collection.
•    Fill tubes correctly, underfilled or overfilled tubes will be rejected.
•    Immediately after filling the tubes, shake them ten (10) times with up and down motion to ensure the entire inner surface of the tube is coated with blood, so solubilize antigens on the tube walls.
•    After mixing transport tubes upright.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refer to Specimen Stability criteria as shown below.

Stability (from collection to initiation)

after separation from cells:

Ambient

8 hours

Refrigerated

Unacceptable

Frozen

Unacceptable

Unacceptable Conditions

Special Instructions

Collect specimens by 2:00 pm. Specimens MUST arrive in the lab by 5:00 pm. Specimen collected after 2:00 pm will have a delayed turnaround time.
