Collect

Contact the coagulation laboratory at x 5030 to preschedule and find out the number of light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) PLASTIC tubes. A clean venipuncture is essential to avoid specimen activation.  The correct ratio of blood to anticoagulant (9:1) is critical . If the tubes are under-filled, specimen must be recollected as results will not be accurate. Control: Contact the coagulation laboratory at x 5030  to find out the number of  light blue-top (3.2% sodium citrate) tubes from a fasting, normal, unrelated person collected at the same time. Label clearly on outermost label Normal Control.
