This test provides for the identification of worms or larva.

Collect

Place worm, proglottid, larva or scolex in a clean container

Specimen Preparation

Immerse parasite in 5-10mL of 70-80% ethanol in a clean container or immerse parasite in SAF vial (parasite preservative supplied in Ova and Parasite kit)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Transport specimen to laboratory at room temperature

Unacceptable Conditions

Unpreserved specimens

Stability (from collection to initiation)

Ambient: 1 month in 70-80% ethanol or SAF

Collection device

Add 70% ethanol to clean vial or use SAF vial
