Enteric Bacterial Panel by NAA serves as an aid in diagnosing patients with acute gastroenteritis, enteritis, or colitis and should be correlated with the history and physical examination of the patient

This test is included when the Bacterial Enteric Extended Panel (BPXENT) is ordered

This test can be ordered with other GI tests on the same instrument: VPENT, PPENT

Patient Preparation

Avoid contaminating stool sample with water or urine and avoid mixing toilet paper or soap with the specimen

Collect

1 mL - 5 mL unpreserved, unformed stool in a clean container

or
Unformed stool in Cary-Blair media (or modified Cary-Blair) filled to the line.
Fill as exactly as possible to indicated line.

0.5 mL unpreserved, unformed stool

1.0 mL unpreserved, unformed stool in a clean container
