Collect

CPA is only validated on BD and Greiner (NA Citrate) blue tubes. All other brands will be rejected.

Light Blue (citrate)

Specimen Preparation

Processed samples should be trasferred, and transported in BD Non Additive (Z) tubes. 


Collection
  • If using a butterfly collection device, draw a discard tube (red top or blue top only) to remove air from the line that will prevent filling the tube.
  • All light blue tubes must be filled to the fill line (indicated on the tube) for appropriate blood to anticoagulant ratio. 


After Collection
  • Double spin sample, remove plasma from cells and freeze immediately.
  • The transfer tubes should be labeled with "citrate plasma" and capped with a white transfer tube cap.
