The level of glycated hemoglobin corresponds to the "integration" of all the glycemic variations during the previous weeks. It can be used as an index of diabetes control. This quantification allows for the evaluation of the efficiency of treatments.
The test report provides the percentage of glycosylated Hb A present (Hb A1c). If a hemoglobin variant or other hemoglobin pattern abnormality is present, this will also be noted in the report. Recommend follow-up testing order of Hemoglobin Electrophoresis if a hemoglobin abnormality is detected.
