Collect

Collect in light blue top tubes (sodium citrate anticoagulant).
Specimens must be received within the hours of 8:00am - 2:00pm.
Call Coagulation Lab (x 41779) to schedule test.

Collect four 2.7 mL tubes











Note: For all coagulation testing, ensure tubes are sufficiently filled. Refer to the guide below.

Unacceptable Conditions

Inadequately filled tubes; hemolyzed/clotted specimens; specimens greater than 4 hours old.

Remarks

If the patient's Hematocrit is >55%, call the Coagulation lab at 41778 and ask for a light blue top tube with an adjusted amount of 3.2% trisodium citrate anticoagulant.
