Bone marrow and leukemic blood samples: 3-5 ml in an EDTA (purple-top) tube.
Fresh Tissue 150 mg or 0.5-2.0 cm3 fresh tissue in transport media. Deliver within 24 hours at room temperature.
Fresh Frozen Tissue 150 mg or 0.5-2.0 cm3 tissue snap frozen in liquid nitrogen. Store at -80°C and prevent thawing. Ship on minimum of 10 lbs. of dry ice in an insulated container by overnight courier.
Formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue: minimum three 20-um scrolls or 5 slides that are freshly cut before shipping to us via overnight delivery. It would be best to cut and ship Wednesday to arrive on Thursday. Alternatively, a whole FFPE block can be sent. Please note: Unlike the other specimens in which isolated RNA is extracted, only Total Nucleic Acid (DNA and RNA) is extracted from FFPE tissue.
Unacceptable Conditions
Unacceptable conditions include no tumor in tissue or specimens fixed/processed in alternative fixatives.

The Fusion Panel V3 targets over 700 exons of 117 cancer genes. Fusions are confirmed by FISH or Real Time PCR when necessary. This test does not detect fusions with no fusion partner included in this panel (see Molecular Testing Notes for the gene list). The panel should not be used for detecting residual fusions at present time.
Utility
The CHOP Cancer Fusion Panel test can provide important fusions information which facilitates disease diagnosis, risk stratification, and therapeutic decision-making.
Next generation sequencing (NGS) and data analysis: Nucleic acid is extracted from the patient’s tumor sample. Sequencing libraries are prepared using Archer Universal RNA Reagent Kit with CHOP fusion panel custom-designed primers with target specific molecular barcode. Enriched and indexed libraries are then pooled for sequencing. Sequencing is performed on Illumina NovaSeq 6000 system. Sequencing data are analyzed using ArcherTM Analysis for fusion genes.
