Specimen Preparation

Prior to freezing, collection tubes must be centrifuged at a time and speed that results in the production of a platelet poor plasma which contains a residual platelet count of <10,000/uL.

Unacceptable Conditions

Serum, EDTA Plasma, Clotted, Hemolyzed specimens &/or Improperly labeled or filled collection tube.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Whole Blood (Spun or Unspun) can be transported or stored at Room Temperature (18-24oC) for up to 4 hours.
Platelet Poor Plasma Separated from the cells can be transported or stored Frozen at -20oC for up to 2 weeks.
