Purpose

This panel utilizes PCR to detect and report:
  • Bacterial Vaginosis
  • Candida group (C. albicans, C. parapsilosis, C. tropicalis, C. dubliniensis)
  • Candida glab-krus group (more resistant Candida species: C. glabrata and C. krusei)
  • Trichomonas vaginalis

Collect

The only accepted specimen is a vaginal swab collected using  Cepheid Xpert Swab

Specimen Preparation

Refer to the Cepheid Xpert Swab Specimen Collection Kit Instructions for Use for collection and transport instructions.

Unacceptable Conditions

Any sample other than the Cepheid Xpert Swab

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated or Room Temperature (2 - 28oC)
