Interpretive Data
ANA is a standard screening assay for detecting multiple autoantibodies produced by patients with an ANA associated rheumatic disease. In 2009 a task force of the American College of Rheumatology issued a statement declaring Hep-2 indirect immunofluorescence as the preferred method for ANA screening.
Avera McKennan Laboratory will report 5 patterns and respective titers: Homogeneous, Speckled, Centromere, Nucleolar and Nuclear Dots. Cytoplasmic staining will be noted if present.
